Where
I've heard that you can simply unplug it, but where? I assume a plug somewhere on the trans?

The 1 to 4 shift was designed to increase fuel economy. It prevents you from shifting into 2nd or 3rd gear at low speeds. You can unplug the connector at the trans, or just nail the gas.

Unplug it at the trans. it is the middle wire on the drivers side.

drive through it, it cuts off over 2x mph, just accel to redline and powershift into 2nd, it's mandatory anyway (this coming from the guy with no 2nd gear synchronizer).

Third option: Pull the fuse. It's #26, IIRC.
NOTE: The BEST option is the CAGS eliminator.
It's quick, simple, cheap, clean, neat, and doesn't throw a code or affect anything else.
