seat switch power drain
Aside from the fact that my 87 has been an electrical nightmare in general, I went out to start my car opened the door and the CRTSY lights didn't come on. I knew something was up. tried to start/dead. I hooked up the charger and immediately the lights were pulsing and a humming sound could be heard throughout the car. I walked around, and listened under the seat. I heard a motor that was turning off and on. the motor was the P/S right under the base off the seat near the front, and next to the trans tunnel. My friend recently recovered my seats(two weeks ago) they look great, and I don't think it could be anythin he did. Does anyone know which switch is defective, and how much they cost.

If it's like the '86 design, that one housing contains all three motors for seat movement. Best way to find out what is going live is to probe the connector and then trace back from the wiring diagram. It may be the motor itself has a short. MAD, Ecklers, etc all sell switches and seat tracks. Maybe try TLD or Zip if GM has discontinued.
