Default Question on 96 auto

Is the gear indicator supposed to move up/down as you move the shifter out of park and into the other gears. In park the gear indicator is recessed and when I put it in any gear other then park it lifts up to where it should be. The console does not move, just the clear lense strip and idicator below the console. Is this normal or do I need to put that warrant to work already? Everything works perfect and looks perfect. I was just curious about this. By the way, anybody want clear mudflaps that screw into factory wheel well holes. I will be pulling mine off tommorrow. Free + shipping to the first person to email me saying they want them.

I have a 95 auto and mine works normally. In fact, I am sure the gear indicator in yours is supposed to move when you shift from park. Why else would it be there? If it is covered under warranty, I would definately take it in

LOL, maybe I wasn't clear enuff........the whole Indicator assy. in the consol moves........I looked at it today, it needs to be fixed, the indicator mark moves correctly but the assy. isn't flush with bottom of console, it's tilted and recessed......looks like it's warranty time.......unless anyone knows a fix for it.
Thanx for the responses,
Allen

Just pull off the console top and tighten the screws holding the indicator assembly to the console top. Mine was vibrating before I fixed it.

I found that one of my screws that held the clear plastic to my dash fell. I put it back and also made sure the indicator pegs were over the shifter's peg. It is very easy to fix it. Don't leave your car at the dealer for this.

Ok so how do I get the consol off....the only visible screw I see is under the ashtray...........the last thing I want to do is just start tugging on it and listening for the cracking points to find them. lol :D
