Thought I would share with you guys that accel is now making a replacement OPTI Spark. Don't know any specifics, but it looks like its reasonably priced. ~269 dollars.
Might help some people out if they are in the market.

That info has been around since last month.I will wait before I recommend any Accel product.Way to many negative posts about ther products for my liking.Still have yet to hear anyting on the MSD one either they keep pushing the release date back on it like they did with the cap&rotor.I will wait for someone to be a guenea pig since I already have a tried and true Dynaspark on my car.
If you look around enough you can find bad things about every product you purchase for performance.
I have been running their accel gen7 for a year now and have to say its probably one of the most quality built and assembled units (wiring harness etc) that I have seen. And their customer service when I had questions was TOP notch as well.
Like I said, if you look long enough or are determined enough there are people that will always have an "issue".
Even some of the best names like Crower, MSD, oliver, AFR, ARP, HOLLEY etc.
jesse, quite true. i probably shouldn't have been so quick to make that statement. we can even add there's plenty wrong with OE parts due to overseas mfr. and quality control, especially lately like clutch master and slave cylinders, iac valves, etc.
I'm leery of some Accell products, too, with the exception of their ignition wires. Still, I'm glad to see there's a reasonably priced Opti alternative out there.
If its a replacement for the Gen2 opti the price is good but not that great a bargain. Summit, for example, has the tried and true OEM Gen2 for $290. They have the Gen1 for $380. (Why the poorer design is more expensive is something I can't figure out). Considering how much work is involved in replacing an opti I wouldn't want to be the first kid on my block to try an untested product. Let one of the monthly Corvette mags try it first.

I agree. I'll be watching the Vette mags with great interest.

Is that new or reman? If that's new, that's a deal. If not, I wouldn't touch it. I got a new later opti a couple of years ago for $215 from Sam Taylor. But they've gone up some since then.
Re/ the aftermarket ones, were I to take a chance on one, I'd much rather have the MSD. Even though it's $100 more than the Accel, I'm betting it's worth it. Count me as one who's not been impressed with Accel's electrical products over the years. I've just seen too many failures.

Don't ever get gouged at your local dealer again for your Vette parts. Call Superior Chevrolet and ask for Chris in parts. Tell him you're a forum member and you'll get great deals. They're a forum sponsor.
Here's the link. Superior

True. I get parts quite cheap thru my jobber account at my local dealer. Chris, at Superior usually beats it. Fast, respectful, and great shipping time.

I hear ya & thanks for the advice. I just compared it to the Mid America price & figured by the time I added in shipping, the #'s would be darn close anyway, so why not get one right away & not have to wait........

Superior only charges for actual shipping costs too. They don't gouge you for a minimum fee as does GM Parts Direct.
