Default Window motor / Regulator removal

Hello.
I am in the middle of doing the window regulator motor on a 92. Door panel is off, inside plate is off and hanging, regulator and motor is in veiw. My window glass is stuck in the UP POSITION, I can't get to all the bolts. Everything that I have read says to bring the glass down a little so you can unbolt it. How do you get the glass down, when you are stuck in the up position, and the motor is non-functional? (I have tried to smack the motor housing a few times...it is dead.

Just bought the car, so I am not sure how long the motor hasn't worked. I need to repair about 5 of the weak spots (small fixes) before she is solid again.

Bought the motor at Autozone....46.99

Thanks for any help...

Default BAM...bam...BAM.. GOT IT!

Guess I wasn't hitting it hard enough. I am tempted to leave it alone now that the motor is working again. Probably not a good idea, huh?
Get that crap outa there while I have it apart....right?

if you have already bought the motor and you have the door apart... replace the problem item now - you will thank yourself later

I am glad to hear that you solved your problem, but I would still like for someone out there to answer your question. I have a similiar situation on my '87, need to move the glass down a bit so I can remove it but motor won't operate. Is there any way to "hot wire" directly to the window motor to test it??

I remember replacing my motor and the window was stuck in the up position.

My memory is failing me (its been a year) but I know it was simple.... I believe I unscrewed the part of the motor that is held on by four little screws once that was removed I was able to maually turn the motor with my hand until the glass was at a lowered postion and I could remove it.

Im pretty sure thats how it went. I know I ended up turning it manually to lower the window. Good Luck

Remove the part with four screws and try that, im sure it will work if not screw it back on no loss.

Default To Rondo

Hey Rondo,
(It was my passenger side)

The only way that the old motor would run, after I hit it ...was when the passenger window switch was connected. Strange thing, the passenger window switch is dead, but it has to be in place when I run the window from the driver's side switch.

When the passenger window switch was disconected the motor would not run at all. (From the drivers side) I had to order in a passenger side switch as well.

Just wanted to share it with you, Good luck.
