Default injector cleaners?

greetings,

quick question...are there any viable injector cleaners that actually work up to the point of actually removing the injectors from the car for cleaning, flow, etc? any that you would "pump - inject" into the fuel rail directly?.....thanks.

When I first got my vette in 2002 I used some stuff from BG that was pretty expensive but seemed to help. I think the general concensus on this board is not to use injector cleaners as it is harmful to the injectors. 3m has a product as well that connects to the fuel rail to do its cleaning but I know nothing about it myself.

Howes and Lucas both make additives for diesel and gas for cleaning injectors. Really not for cleaning fouled injectors, more of routine use
to prevent fouling. I know it works in the diesels, not so sure about gas engines. Check their websites. The consensus here on the forum seems to be the Chevron Techron is the best.

I've tried several fuel injector/system cleaners and the only one that i've used that really worked was Gumout. I've never tried Lucas fuel cleaner, but the oil stabilizer stuff is great!

i was more so looking for an application that would be applied directly into the fuel rail and NOT the gas tank as i am familiar with tank additives.

Ecklers used to sell a hose and adapter with a 3M product that attached to the fuel rail. A friend of mine used it years ago and said that it worked great and he has since given me the hose and I bought a can of 3M cleaner on Ebay but haven't tried it yet.

The BG prouduct is what we use here at our shop, the three part kit.

One part in the tank, one part in the fuel rail, one part in the throttle body.

It truly works.

I wonder why your insisting it pump into the rail? You are only bypassing the pump and I have never heard any negatives about passing it through the pump although some say cleaners can have an negative effect on the injectors especially GM stockers. So logic tells me going through the rail will increase that possibility.I have seen cleaners that inject into the intake vacuum lines to clean the valves up better.

I know that it isn't "meant for APPLYING DIRECTLY INTO FUEL RAIL", but the first part of your question asked "are there any viable injector cleaners that actually work up to the point of actually removing the injectors from the car for cleaning, flow, etc?"

I personally have had good experience with the product I mentioned but I am not connected to them in anyway so it doesn't matter to me if you use it or not.

Good luck

I own a franchise to a major oil change company. The mother company is not Chevron but does say that Chevron gasoline with Techron keeps injectors the cleanest. Running their gasoline is almost as effective as running a cleaner every 3000 miles.

A fuel rail hookup will be more concentrated than a 12oz bottle that you dillute in 10 gallons of fuel.

I've looked for em but haven't seen any. Maybe they consider consumers too stupid to use them without setting their cars on fire.

Not all injectors are prone to damage from cleaning. I think maybe just the Multec design is.

well, don't get mad!..at any rate, you are right. i mal-formed my question whereas it should have read "are there any injector cleaners that are applied directly into he fuel rail and NOT the gas tank"...i stand corected only on that part and sorry for the oversite of proof reading my question.
