Default Heater core bypass

Hi all,

Need to change heater core and also locate a heater valve (missing) for my 84'. Can I hook up the hose from manifold to water pump to bypass core and keep it that way over the summer w/o drivability problems and w/o concerns of overheating?

Pete

Absolutely. The parts stores sell a plastic tube that takes a 5/8" hose on on end and a 3/4" hose in the other, just for that purpose. Since it was only temporary, I just connected the heater hoses, together, at the firewall. They were in good shape and I reused them when I replaced the heater core.

When I bought my car in 1986, the heater control valve had already been removed from the car. I never would have known the difference, if I hadn't spotted one in my parts book. You really don't need it.

RACE ON!!!

Yes you can. And if you live down here in South Florida (yesterday 88), you can make that switch permanent.
