My car recently started to hesitate or bog down when pushing the throttle 1/2 to 3/4 of the way down. This only seems to happen when first started and the engine temp is below 150 degrees. Any ideas?
I looked in my 86 FSM and it says in this order for hesitation, sag, or stumble. Little different for 95
check fuel pressure (should be 42 to 47) or for LT1
air leaks between MAF and TB
Spark plugs and wires
Ignition timing
Alternator output
Injector balance
IMO
p.s. I had a nissan rice burner that fried a diode in the alternator when I pulled too hard on the throttle passing cars.
My 94 has the same problem. Once it warms up everything seems to be fine. I have changed the plugs, cleaned the MAF, changed fuel filter, but haven't checked the TPS. I guess I'll do that next.
You will need a voltmeter. Key on, not running, the TPS will need to be connected to get volts. On my 86 (probably different for LT1), probe the black wire (ground), and dark blue wire (ecm signal) to get the volts, then loosen the two bolts holding it on. And again numbers could be different on your, someone here might correct me. The volts should read 0.54v at closed throttle and 4.00v at WOT. Adjust the TPS to these numbers and your good to go with the TPS.
