Default Should I replace the Opti??

Over the next couple of weeks I will be installing a Meziere electric water pump, and a Cloyes double roller timing chain. Would it be wise for me to change the Optispark at the same time? Or, would I just be throwing money away. My car is '95 with 39K, and it runs great. My mods are listed in my sig. If I change the Opti, what is the best/highest quality replacement? GM, Dynaspark? Or is the MSD available? Any advice, insight, suggestions would be appreciated.

If it's working just fine, I would keep it. If it goes out, it's not entirely difficult to replace once you know how it all fits together.

If you're going that far into it, a cam replacement is right there, a mere three bolts away.

That's true, but the LT4 hotcam has been in only about 1000 miles, and thus far I am very pleased.

I didn't realize you already did the hotcam. Disregard my stupidity!

You already have the vented Opti and they are usually good for 100,000 miles. If the car runs fine keep your money

No problem. I do appreciate your advice. I was thinking I could probably leave it alone, but then I figured that maybe while I was there I should change it.

When you remove the water pump check it carefully. If there is a leak it will show up as a black line on the back of the pump. If you see signs of a leak go ahead and replace the opti. If no signs of a leak you are good to go.

I know that's the conventional wisdom but the vented opti is sealed pretty well. If there's no problem currently, I'd save my money and stick it right back on. As you already know, it's no big deal to change when it's finally needed.
