I have a 95 manual I have had it for a couple months and the front caliphers are not tight on the front rotor. You can move them back and forth a little to create a clanking sound. The pads are new and supposedly the stock replacement. The caliphers were clanking before I replaced the pads, and the old ones found to be the wrong size slightly. The caliphers were fine for about a month then started clanking again. there is no top bolt on the calipher. the pad obstructs the hole. the car drives and brakes fine. What is going on??? Just brakes did the pad change and supposedly ordered the right pad.
The calipers are floating style so they are designed to slide back and forth. The calipers are held in by a ridge on the top and a pin in the bottom. If the calipers clank while you are driving it is because the shop left out the spring-clips that prevent the caliper from rattling up and down in the bracket. This clip attaches to the botton end of the outboard pad. If these are missing you can either take it back to the shop and complain or ask on the forum and someone, maybe even me, will have an extra set they can snd you, then you can put them on yourself. I highly recommend changing your own pads etc. on a C4 as it is very easy, more time to get the tools out than to do it.
