MAF Sensor - 85 vs. 86 through 89 Difference
OK, I remember reading that these MAF sensors could be interchanged as far as functioning,(85 vs, 86-89) but does anyone remember what the actual difference is in the sensor itself?

1985 MAF used a pulsed DC signal to the ECM, the 86-89 used a steady DC signal to the ECM... I've heard of 1 or 2 people using the 86-89 MAF on the 85 TPI and it worked for them....But more have said that it won't work, the 870 ECM is looking for that pulsed signal and doesn't like it when it isn't there. You can, however use the 85's MAF on 86-89, aparently the 165 ECM has some kind of "buffer" for the MAF signal so it sees the pulsed signal as a steady input.
