I put on my new plug wires (from Chris of course) and went for about a 15 mile ride tonight. I changed nothing else other than the plug wires yet my idle is about 300 rpms more than before. The old wires were original with 34K miles. Does this make any sense or sound possible? Strange???
Re: New Taylor plug wires - strange question???? (Glock'94)
Glock,
Only change was new Taylor wires. Could this cause a different idle speed? Wouldn't the IAC compensate for any changes or would it take a few miles to learns or ??????
Re: New Taylor plug wires - strange question???? (Larry Mackey)
I put new taylors on 2 months ago and nothing changed except I didn't have a light show under the hood at night, your IAC should be compensating for the faster idel, check the connection there or maybe clean it and see what happens.

Who is Chris??? ;)
You might want to reset your computer by unplugging the battery. That and clean out the IAC.
Good Luck! You Honolulu guys are GREAT! It must be the weather and scenery over there.
Re: New Taylor plug wires - strange question???? (Larry Mackey)
If your old wires were a mess and not delivering much spark someone may have fiddle with your idle speed screw to keep it running. Then when new wires started delivering good spark to the plugs, the idle speed went up. Is the little AL cap on the back of the idle speed stop screw off or damaged? Just a thought, I'm really not a pro at this.
