Thanks to Reese *** at MTI http://www.mtiracing.com/artmaverick/ for letting me run my dad's car. Gotta thank my dad too. He has an '02 Z06 that's been lowered, aligned, hurst pistol grip shifter installed, corner weighted, MTI headers and tune, callaway air filter housing, wilwood pads, and roadcourse tires. MTI has done all the work and it's one great handling car with lots of power. This was my first ever roadcourse action. I got a 1:21 lap time. Ran two 30-minute sessions, passed up a 3rd session due to driver fatigue. I was wore slap out from riding with my dad on Saturday and half of Sunday.
Reese and his crew put on one of the best events I've ever been too and his crew was very helpful. I have to thank them too. I've been riding with my dad at events like this for around 15 yrs and driving autox tracks for the same time period. This was a priceless opportunity that I'll never forget. We were both very surprised by my lap times and overall performance. I have to admit I was scared. I've always said I didn't even want to try to run on a roadcourse, but it was a lot better in the driver's seat instead of the passenger seat. It looked very difficult, but was like riding a bicycle once I got behind the wheel. I got my second session taped via in-car camera. Should have it on dvd soon and maybe I can post a lap video after that.
It's awesome! I was up til midnight last night watching the tapes and logging each lap time with notes. Got about 30 more minutes to watch. I think we got about 2 hrs of footage. I can't stop thinking about, it's a drug I say!
