Paging Vader86 Or Someone Smarter
ok today i replaced my lower radiator hose. I got a 86 auto tranny. The l98 hose was a inch to short so the guy suggested that the L-t1 hose is a bit longer to try it. IT FIT PERFECTLY. How do i know what motor i have pics? info details??? cant find block # either ll

Check out this thread......
Your 86 should have the L98......... exposed runners on the intake... and of course a conventional distributor in the back of the mainfold by the firewall....
LT1 has a box for a intake(more or less).... and the optispark(dist.) is located on the front of the motor below the waterpump, buried down by the balancer
Edit...... dam I type too slow
these guys got pics and everything

Neither of the people you discribe would be me but here goes.
If the intake manifold has round runners from the plenum to the base it is a L98.
If it has no runners and is a one piece "squareish" look, it is the LT1
Hope this helps

Thanks!
Look at your spark lug wires, if they all come from the back of the engine(Towards the windshield) you hav ethe L98. If they all come from the front of the engine(towards the radiater) you have the LT1.

85 - 91 L98, 92-96 LT1. Its always possible some previous owner did an engine swap, but...
My Goodyear 85-89 hi-miler hose kit came with 2 lower hoses.
Apparently there is more than 1 L98 lower radiator hose.
This could be due to the upright vs tilted radiator mounting in some model years.
