stroker/oil pan clearance
how much clearancing is needed with a BFH on a stock pan to clear a 3.75 stroke crank and a 6" rod? the reason i ask is because i really don't see the need to spend $200 on an oil pan for this engine. it's only going to see 6500 rpms at most and i have a standard volume oil pump. if need be- i will buy a little larger pan- just curious as to if it is really needed as well as how much work is involved in giving the stocker a little attitude adjustment to fit the larger stroke. i didn't have to take much off the oil pan rail on the block for the rods to clear. maybe one of my friends has a stock pan i can mock up to see how it fits?
hamburger has an econo series- that has a windage tray, crank scraper, and trap doors for a shade under $200. on the other hand i can get a stocker 5qt for under $50.
