Default Atten "ZIX" balancer weighting

I want to change the balancer on my ZZ4 crate engine so it fits the 91 Vette without modifying the crossmember. It appears you have already have done this. Where do I get the damper weighted???? Thanks

What, weighted??? The ZZ4 is a gen I engine, isn't it? Except for the 400 and certain crossbreed strokers, all Gen I engines are neutrally balanced in front. Slap your old damper on the new engine and be on your way.

RACE ON!!!

Well the ZZ383 comes shipped with a weighted balancer for some reason, and it is also a bit large to clear the front cross-member so we had to get a stock balancer modified with the proper weights for it to work properly.

Give Trevor at Exotic Muscle a call, he'll remember better than I will because it was a shop car down there that we were working on. Just tell him it was the black supercharged ZZ383...he'll remember it very well because we had MANY hours into that thing!! Their number is 480 967 4222

Is a ZZ383 the same thing as a ZZ4? Isn't the ZZ383 a stroker?

Did I not address what you were talking about, even though it has nothing to do with the subject? What does what a ZZ383 comes with have to do with anything?

I thought it was odd as well, and we never would have noticed except for a odd vibration that would come on around 4500RPM, it was a very tight vibration that wouldn't go away above that RPM. We noticed it when we looked at the balancer that came with the ZZ383, we used a standard Vette balancer, and when we comapred them that's when we noticed the added weight.

I'm guessing because he wanted something a bit more concrete than "except for the 400 and certain cross-breed strokers"...since he has a ZZ383 he's just looking for something more specific.

Zix & CFI, I had a hand in this.

The Bus has another thread going - 8" to 6-3/4"

I suggested that he PM Zix because I remembered the change
to the ZZ383.

This info makes my day!!! I was wondering what I was going to do about balancer. Bought it because I had ZZ383 crank and rods and figured it was a close match and then read a few post talking about interference in C-4 chassis. So if have this they should be able to balance 6 3/4 balancer to that specs and good to go??

And that would be the same as THIS thread.

There is no mention of a ZZ383 and therefore no need for any further mention of the non-subject 383.

HE didn't mention he "he wanted something a bit more concrete than "except for the 400 and certain cross-breed strokers"" or that "he has a ZZ383". Other than use the 400 as a "disclaimer" for my, all SBCs have neutrally balanced dampers, no one mentioned a 383 until you got off the subject. If TheBus really owns a ZZ383 it isn't apparent from any of THESE posts, by him.
