Would this be cost effective or even do-able? I read about alot of people going to the SR or MR but I've never heard of anyone just ripping off an LT1 intake. Why would this not work? or would it just be too much hastle/$$$ to bugger with?
I am fairly sure (almost positive) that this is NOT do-able. I believe the LT1 intake has no coolant flowing through it, and is designed differently due to the reverse flow cooling system.
They LT1 intake doesn't have the same cooling passages as the L-98. The LT1 has a front (camshaft) mounted optispark module vs an L-98's conventional rear distributor, hence the LT1 has no hole for a distributor shaft to go through. It isn't worth the trouble to convert an LT-1 intake to fit the application.
Bryant, you can modify your L-98 manifold to get closer to LT-1 type breathing, but it's extreme.
