CRANE or MSD LT1 Coil
Does anyone make a direct replacement coil for a 1996 LT1. I'd like to stay away from the cylinder style. Has anyone put a crane or msd on their car? What was involded or was it plug and play?

msd, not quite plug and play but looks good. i believe they are all red , mine is. if you want to plug and play you will need to buy a new gm set up with the coil module cinnected. otherwise you need to drill out the rivets and bolt the module on the new coil. easy job

I installed the MSD wires and coil 3 weeks ago. Yes they are all red. You have to drill out your old coil, but it takes 2 seconds to knock off the heads of the rivets. I like the way they look, and everyone says the engine compartment looks alot cleaner, I also got rid of my stock wire loom hangers. I bought the MSD wire loom kit also, it turned out great. I'll get some pics soon. Car runs great now. Just figured I would let you know after reading your post. Good luck. :cheers:

I have a MSD Blaster coil on the '94. I lucked out and didn't have to drill any rivits. It plugs right in. I will suggest replacing any factory wires though as I believe the extra power from the new coil made my factory wires wear out a WHOLE lot faster. I now have MSD wires.
