Default Water Pump Failure Imminent?

I'm still fairly new to these cars. Is there an acceptable amount of leakage from the waterpump on the LT1/4 cars? After being parked for the night, mine has a single drop of coolant on the serpentine belt. Is this "normal" or do I need to get an electric pump on order?

No coolant leakage is normal.

Get ready to replace your pump. Mine started that way. Then it was spraying coolant on the hood. I did it during the winter when I was able to take my time. The hardest part was getting the old gasket off the engine. :chevy

You might as well have the OptiSpark replaced as well once you have all taken apart. That will go right after the water pump. :mad

If it's leaking, it's failing. There's nothing on the engine that's supposed to leak any coolant under normal circumstances!

Mine has a coolant leak somewhere, I can barely smell it when the engine's hot... but I can't figure out where it's coming from. And I just put a new pump on a year ago.

Yep.. should NEVER be a drop coming from the radiator. If there is, you have a problem.

Time for a new water pump. Replace the belt while you are at it.

Thud, it sounds likec you have a gasket going. If you smell coolent it is being burned away on a warm engine. I hope I'm wrong. :chevy
