Racing seats for '96?
and I was wondering if any members have installed racing seats in a 96. I have been looking at Sparco and Corbeau but as I'm somewhat distant from my vehicle I'm unable to get dimensions and it appears that this is the only way to choose the seats. My GS has the power sport seats.. both driver and passenger and I would definetly like to have the 'QTR' feature.
My 21 yr old daughter has decided that she is going to be my navigator for the Silver State open road race this year and I guess I would prefer to 'safety' up the car for this event.
Appreciate any and all comments!
Thanks guys!!

Here is a quote from the 2003 response from Recaro..
"As far as I know the only seats to fit are the racing buckets like the Recaro SPG or the Sparco EVO".
The 17" seats BARELY fit. The side mounts are hitting the carpet on both sides. The shoulder wrap just touches the door when closed too. Also, it's recommended that you use a seat back brace for aluminum seats which makes adjustment more of a pain.
If your car sees a lot of street miles, I wouldn't recommend aluminum seats -- a bit too extreme. The Corbeau Forza seems popular around here and I'm sure there are others.

measurements taken before ordering indicate it will fit, I have not
placed it in the car yet.
Something to consider is whether to get a seat with sides that have
belt openings or not. A seat without pass-throughs permits proper
fitment of the OEM seat belt. I am installing an aftermarket harness.
Corbeau offers C4-specific seat mounts with fore/aft adjustment.
Although the last thread I saw this mentioned had some dissent,
the prevailing opinion is that the the Corbeau rails lower the seat,
compared to the OEM power or manual rails. They are lighter than
the power ones.
With some planning, you could make it possible to swap seats. 15 min
could see you switch from the OEM seat to the race seat and have
the best of both worlds for a daily driver.
Search over in Autocross and Roadracing for the many threads about
seats over there (use the Advanced Search and check the 'Archives'
box).
