Default new problem with the '61 tpi

thanks for all the help with the timing, i have a new problem, the car starts and runs fine but if i turn it off it will not start again unless i diconnect one of the injectors. it does this even after only running for a min or two. all of the new injectors ohm out in the upper 15 ohm range, i think that is within spec. any ideas thanks

Yep, that's a good range. I know there new, but have tried starting it with the gas pedal floored? the injector your disconnecting-is it the same one each time? Maybe you should try a noid light on the injectors
and you probably should hook up a fuel pressure gauge too, if it bleeds down to quickly-that will answer the question.

the fuel psi. is at 40 when running, and goes up to 45 when the car is shut off, it stays there for at least an hour. i have unplugged four or five diffrent injectors with the same result. i cant test the injectors with the light because they work after the circuit has been broken.

You say that you "disconnect" one, but does this mean you disconnect and reconnect? Or disconnect and try to start it disconnected?

Either way, really, I would be sure that the system is properly grounded.

Did you have the ECM flashed to remove VATS?

The pressure just about eliminates any leaky ones. Didn't understand your last sentence however. Not even sure it would be worth checking with the noid light-just in case though, I beleive their batch fired like my 87, you just plug in the noid light in each injector pigtail-crank and watch it flash. If I remember right this is an 85-right? they don't have the key pellet do they? Bogus might have a point about vats.

i am using an aftermarket prom and a painless harness, there shouldnt be any vats system active. i am checking grounds, could it also be a power problem holding the injectors in a powered state until i break the circuit by pulling one of the injector plugs.

Ohms at the injector doesn't mean much in my opinion, there's so many other things to go wrong.

I had some pissing a stream of fuel, some flowing nothing at all, and some working properly, but the ohms all checked out fine. None of them were stuck open however.

I think Scorp508 may have run across this problem, check with him..
