Default Holley or BBK Throttle Body ?

I'm going to a 58mm TB. Which is the best choice between Holley #510-112-503, or BBK/Edelbrock #129-1536 ? thanks

I have a Holley 58mm. Its a piece of art. BUT theres an issue with mine and i dont know how many others about it opening past WOT. i emailed holley tech and waiting to hear from them tommorow. If not i do have a simple solution to be able to adjust the amount of the TB blades opening. heres what it looks like...

holding it close to WOT (or where i think it should be), the blades are horizontal/90' degrees. notice the brass colored metal tab that is a cm or so away from the TB- that seems to be the stop.

WOT, blades are guesstimate 5-6 mm PAST wot.

If i probably didnt need a bigger TB i would never change the stock one.

How do the blades look at WOT when hooked up to the cable?
Others have stated probs getting full opening with stock cable unless linkage on TB is reworked to change movement

Well the cables can be adjusted when they're on but i would much prefer a 'positive' stop that prevents the blades going past wot. i cant test fit it as the manifold has been sent for some more careful machining/welding for the distributor hole and then for thermal reflective paint and the only the long block is assembled so far. I wont put it on unless i can prevent it going past wot. Although being lazy as i am ill probably ebay it and buy an arizona speed and marine unit.

I've had good results with the BBK's, some problems with the holley's (mainly sticking blades) and TERRIBLE results with the ASM monoblade.

By TERRIBLE results I mean that they don't put enough return spring on the thing to shut itself and you over rev or flare the RPM's between shifts.

i worked with fluid flow thru butterfly valves some years ago...flow is not directly proportional to degree of opening (last few degrees typically have no change) and highest flow is typically not at 90*, varying with shaft design,etc....if holley sez your tb is ok, i'd tend to believe them

i'm retired and not affiliated with any mfr
be interested in their reply tho
