Default cat converter test pipe?

The pre cats are gutted on my 89 roadster but the interior is awfully hot except when the air is on, have 80k miles on the vert and am suspecting main cat is going bad. Does anyone know if anyone makes a test pipe to replace the converter to see if it is bad? any help would be appricated.

  THANKS

Just gut it out dude! :D
ive got an '89 coupe... ive gutted mine... same effect... and best of all.. its FREEEEE!! :D

unbolt it and stand it on the driveway or street.. then just take a metal rod or a crow-bar and put it inside and just start happering away at it...

it takes about 15-20mins to get it all out.. DONT breath the dust it creates (think of hammering a cinderblock to bits,, same type of texture, adn same amount of dust)

then just toss the guts into a bag and throw it out.. unless you can find a buyer for it, if you melt it down there is like platinum or some precious metal in it... i forgot... i just threw mine away..

the empty cat makes a cool sound now, it changed the tone of the exhaust for the better.. i like it :D and its MUCH more free flowing now!... you CAN feel a difference in performance from it too..

originally my pre-cats has spit out the little filter rings straight into my main cat, which is why i took it apart and gutted it...

works great! no error codes or anything either...
go for it! :D

Is it possible at ALL to pass emissions testing without the cats? I would really like to do this, but I have a feeling when they inact emissions testing next summer for the north dallas area, I will fail really bad if I do this.

Excuse me but I've been back in Mesa, AZ for over a week now and the interior of my rental car also gets hot on the inside when the AC is off.

Random Tech. now makes a 3-stage hi-flow cat to replace the stock L98 cat and the two pre-cats. It is 49-states legal; guess which one is omitted here.

When I had my pre-cats removed they installed a std Random Tech. My AZ tags don't exprie till next June so don't know how she will fare at the E-test station.
