I was under the front bumper check my auxillary fan and noticed two hoses disconnected. They go to the Evaporative Emission Control System. I noticed they connect to the bottom of the canister togather in a Y. My FSM or the sticker on the radiator shroud doesn't show these. I checked and there is no vacuum pressure an either hose. Where do these go too? If anyone has a 86 or so could they look to se where they go?

my 86 has the same hoses coming from the bottom. not sure what they do but mine were kind of clogged with some kind of build up so put new hoses in. with the engine running if you cover both hoses it caves in the cannister some what, so they are doing some thing? helpping with fresh air in the syatem or out??

Thanks, I will check mine for the notorious dirt dobber nest. They seem to love things such as this. I guess it is alright like it is.
Do some research. I didn't see any ill effects from bypassing it after reading numerous amounts of info off google dealing with it. I completely eliminated mine and plugged the 2 ports on the TB. Seemed to cure my warm start idle hunting issue. Its there because the EPA wants it there for emissions control purposes. Even if your car physically passed the sniffer, I bet Cali would still fail you on the visual!
