Is the computer used with the Cross Fire injection usable on a TBI (throttle boby inj.) car or van of 87 vintage? Is there a performance advantage? More timing, better fuel curve, etc. http://dirt-racing.freeyellow.com
the computer used to power the later model tbi equipped GM trucks is considered an upgrade to the cross fire computer. They are faster and they have been decoded so a better chip can be burned. The computer on the 82-84 Cross Fire cars are much slower than the computer in the later year GM trucks. Holly makes an intake with port injectors that will fire off the truck computer if that is of interest to you
Mine is from 87 Van. Would one from an early 90s pickup be better? Would an aftermarket chip for a pickup be better? I probably don't need to ask that question. Maybe I'll keep on the lookout for a chip.
Yeah, I could not think of the number of the computer, but Nick is right. Then because this computer has been decoded, you can have someone burn a chip for you based on your engine configuration.
but reading your sig, you may already have the 7747 computer. Some Haltech computers are a direct swap and you can tune them with a laptop, so you might want to see if the Haltech computer is a plug in swap for the computer you have now
