Hey Guys,
I just bought my 2nd vette. A black
92 6spd purchased from forum member
Shoregasm. Anyways, it has no cats
and straight thru's on it. My question
is I have read in the forum search and
know that newer engines require some
backpressure. If I put bullet cats and
a x pipe on it would this keep me from
loosing low end on a stock LT-1?
Yep. This car bassicaly has straight pipe
on it. I am about to take it to my buddies
muffler shop. Just want to have the best
exhaust set up possible. Everything else
is all stock.

Yes, the cats will help low end by adding a little of the needed back pressure but especially w/ a stock engine, you need more. The X-pipe (or a crossover of some type) is an asset to any system. One more question though, how do you stand riding in this thing? The resonance must be horrendous unless it's a chambered system.
If there are any neighbors left around you, they must be deaf, too! Resonance? Heck, it's a straight pipe! You must have those aircraft industry ear muffs.
I'm sorry the straight thru's on there are
chambered. Yes, It is very loud.
Thats why I am going to my
freinds muffler shop. Also what are
good stock replacement mufflers?
Random Tech makes several differant style high flow cat's. My 96 LT4 has a left and right specific and they have a bolt on replacment set. Try Exotic Muscle web site www.exoticmuscle.com and check out their systems.
You know there several guys selling stock LT1 mufflers in the C4 parts for sale section. They flow quite well, particularly the later model ones like the 95 & 96.
"The" shiney setup is a set of Corsa catbacks. Really nice looking but expensive. Also available for your vette are 1 5/8" LT headers --- really nice for improving low end torq--again nice but expensive.
Best bang for the buck is a guy selling a stock setup and they're always for sale.
