having only been in the corvette family for 4 short months, there is something i have been wondering. what the heck does all them letters and numbers stand for when showing engine type? as in L82, L98, LTI, LT4, LS1. do they have any meaning at all are does gm just grab a letter and num, out of the blue? don't laugh at me just explain this to me.
well "L" must stand for engine option, i think "F" is for suspension options. im sure someone in the forum has a breakdown of the codes.
im just guessing, but remember the only dumb question is the one that is'nt asked.
regards
doug :jester
L83 is an L82 with a crossfire intake (2 bolt main)
L98 with different heads, different intake (TPI) etc... More too but complicated..
LTs different design, intake plain, heads, etc... LT engines are the place to be...
Think LS engines are Vortech but don't have enough money to figure it out just yet... Down the road a piece....
Need a book to see all the differences because while many of the blocks are the same, the heads - intakes - etc... Always change... Anything in particular you were looking to find out??
