My own personal tests on Mobil1 and Penzoil have shown that 0W30 made more power, less oil pressure and enhanced current oil leaks over 10W30. The same goes with 0W50 vs 20W50. That's more proof that those 0W oils are in fact thinner when they're hot as well and not just when they're cold and I will continue to treat them as such.
The HT/HS viscosity rating gives insight into how thick the oil feels to the engine at the critical lubrication points, and probably in the oil pump. Power will go up and down with it.
Look at these 5W-30 and 10W-30 100C cSt values vs. the HT/HS values:
The 10W-30 Pennzoil Platinum looks like a tougher oil than the 5W-30 Pennzoil Platinum. But it still has a lower HT/HS value than the Castrol Syntec 0W-30. That stuff drives like a 40 weight.
I just got told, lol. Yeah I was wrong about the 10W-30, must not have been thinking clearly. Its a thicker oil, so duh! Anyway, thats what I have in mine right now and it works just fine. So i'd go with what Craig said stick between 0 and 10 in weights and you should be fine.
