Default Whew... busy day...

Today, I swapped the shocks (newish Koni's from Admiral94)...

AND.... Sirius Radio!

I got the Alpine interface module so it would adapt to my Alpine 7998 head unit. Sounds pretty good.

The antenna is on the top of the hatch, the painted part that is.

Looks good, sounds good, very neat... and now I get Radio Margaritaville! and traffic all the time! Whoo-hoo!

The shock install went just fine... No hangups at all and they ride REAL nice.

I was gonna do something with some cats I got from 500hp, but one had a broken stud, and my extractor could not get a bite. So I drilled it out and it's now gone... but I need to weld a new stud.

That will be next week now...

Yes that does sound like a busy day! So you like the Koni shocks, cool. I need shocks but I don't know which to get right now.

And you had, what, original Bilsteins on the car? Tell us the difference in ride and handling. Sounds like a very busy day, you're ritght.

I had replacement KYBs on the car.

The first thing I noticed about the Koni's is the top bolt. On the KYB (and Bilstien, if I remember rightly) is the top bolt is 14mm.

On the Koni, it's 19mm, with a equally stouter shaft.

Since 90% of my driving is on the lovely freeways of Los Angeles, I set the shocks to full soft. We didn't experience any bottoming out, nor was there any porposing.

The old KYBs were installed almost 6 years, and 100k miles, ago. I am not the least bit disappointed with their performance. I just wanted to try something nicer this time around.

I had the same style of Koni (the adjustable) on my 1994 Prelude. With a set of Eibach springs, Ingalls upper control arm bushings and a fat set of BFG Comp T/As, that sucker handled. It was so sublime... it stuck, and for FWD, it would actually drift through a corner. Yes, I found neutral handling in a FWD car!

In the 'Lude, the shocks set on soft would leave it riding like a caddy, on medium, it picked up a firm, BMW-esque ride and drive feel, and on uber firm (which was actually beyond the limits the factory recommends) it would ride and handle like it was on rails. I used that setting only when I autocrossed... I figured a mile here and a mile there wouldn't hurt anything. I don't think it ever did, either.

The base transverse leave spring settings on my 92 are much stiffer than the coils on the 'Lude, so the ride isn't super-duper soft, but it is very nice and almost supple. My next investment will be new leaf springs. I would love to find that split spring again... I just forgot who made that setup.

I would highly recommend people investigate these shocks.

How did you get the antenna to stay on that painted part? My Sirius antenna is just under the back glass where you press it to go down. The velcro is barely holding but stays.

I used double sided trim tape to stick it to the top.

Three strips, then cropped the tape to be flush to the edges... I will get a picture.

After not getting good reception with the antenna inside the car I just put it where you have it. I used the velcro since I already had it. Much better and faster reception when changing channels. Need to trim the tape though. Too ready to go riding back roads.

not yet... the L98 is toast... so I was waiting for the $$ to get an LT1 and convert.

The 700R4 is also toast... so I am getting the entire LT1/4L60E upgrade.
