Need help immediately. I have the B&B TriFlo 3 in. exhaust and the resonance is killing me. Is the resonance because of the large mufflers? If so, has anyone tried putting smaller high flow mufflers that will become pressurized at a lower rpm thus eliminating this 1200-2000 rpm resonance. I was wondering if some tube(bullet style) mufflers might work. Maybe even the Edelbrock Ultra Flos. Really need this problem fixed because I am worried about my hearing. :cry I have the 2.59 gear ratio which contributes to the problem. I would like to get my hands on the engineers who decided to put a 2.59 gear in a Corvette. :mad :bs

You might want to get your hands on the B&B engineers. I have 2.59s and had no resonance with the exhaust GM put on the car or the Corsas that are on there now.
Seems like there is a natural resonance on 350s with typical open type exhaust. My truck even does it at 1500-1800 rpm. I was told to put a resonator after the mufflers or add resonator tips. I don't know how you would do that with a vette.
Oh yea, check out your mounts real good. You need to make sure you don't have any metal to metal contact and things are tight with no viabration. This won't cure it, but it may help a lot.
Leave it in 3rd if you want to simulate lower gears :yesnod: .
The reason I complained about the 2.59 gear is that it puts the motor right in the resonance range at just about any cruising speed. It seriously hurts performance too. 3.55 or 3.73 would be perfect, and one of these is going in my car when I find a mechanic I trust to perform the swap. I do leave the car in 3rd gear anytime the speeds are less than 65 mph. Running about 2200rpm eliminates all the resonance, so I try to stay as close to this rpm as possible. I think the Corsa uses 2.5 inch tubing, so it is different from the B&B. Does anyone know what is causing the resonance? Is it the large tubing, resonator, or large mufflers? I have talked to B&B and they said the LT1 system has been redesigned. Their suggestion was to buy the new system.
Are there only a few people running LT1's with aftermarket full exhaust? Do you have the same problems. Could use some help or do you have the same type of questions? What about eliminating the mufflers, installing dynamat, or putting some type of insulation on the under side of the car between the exhaust and body?

Re: '95 LT1 Resonance (SLOWBUSA)
Here's the deal. You go to the parts store and you buy an exhaust pipe reducer that tightly fits the inside diameter inside the back of the tip (it gets round in there). Then go to Sears and buy a replacement metal gas cap for a lawnmower that just fits inside the narrow side of the reducer, and a long skinny bolt to fit across the narrow side of the reducer. Pop rivit gas cap to inside of narrow end of reducer. Drill two holes and place bolt across reducer narrow end just before it widens to the wide end. Build two of these rigs. Go out and bend the reducer slightly out of round on the wide end and stuff one inside one rightside tip and one leftside tip. No more resonance. To remove for track, grab the bolt with a pair of pliers and pull out. Ta-Dah.
If you still have too much resonance, get just the pipe reducer for the open tips, this will calm it down even more.
Works.
I have also heard that a pipe plug will work. Have also heard that blue pajamas stuffed in there will work.
We wear earplugs when highway cruising with the B&B system on my LT4. B&B sent me reducer pipes to install in the muffler outlets which I never installed. Sorry, but I am sure you will never find anyone at B&B who is an engineer, those guys don't have a clue how to design an exhaust except to make it physically fit. Others on the forum have plugged one outlet with success. I am planning on installing an H connector about 15" back of the resonator like the factory exhaust. GM put that H pipe for some purpose, I hope resonance and power! I hope to do this next week. Has anyone else added an H-pipe to their B&B system???
I appreciate your help. Just wanted to know if everyone was having the same problem. Hey LT4BUD let me know how the crossover pipe works. Thanks.
Resonance, fires, and optispark seem to be recurring themes. Can't help with your B+B, but when I had my mufflers removed the resonance monster reared it's head at me too. I just turn up the radio and try to ignore to exhaust- but yours (B+B) probably has more resonance than mine.
I have a DANA 36 WITH 3.08 GEARS 70 mph @ 2000 rpm ,this rear end is for sale.I have the dyno-max lt-1 replacement that is more aggressive than the stock with very little resonance. JOE , rightonjoe@earthlink.net
