added the above stock replacement like 50,000 volts. new wires new cap new rotor. my stock 1984 digital tach reads false #'s at above 3600 rpms. i "'disconnected" the tach filter and no help.
now it appears it was working until i added the Innnovate LM-2 feed for rpm input into my wide band log but did not do right away. i recall it working with the feed off distributor before and after the rpm input was wired per the Innovative instructions.
i am wondering if the tach just decided to go south due to old age?
anyone else see their stock vette tach react to high energy ignition?

I've read that our digital tach many times needs the high (Ohm)resistance contact brush/spring, not the low resistance one that comes with the Super Coil in order for the tach to work properly.
If you swapped in the low resistance brush/spring you could try re-installing the stock high resistance one.
I changed the bushings also on mine (MSD coil) and in normal/moderate driving reads fine. Full throtlle does the same as the original posters. Put a stock coil in and it will work fine.
