I just put in a new flywhell and was ready to let the car down when I see the nail in the corner of the tire between the tread and sidewall. Of course they said it cant be fixed . So do you guys have any recomondations for what tires are best with out tradeing my first born to get? Thanks guys
I've been "shopping" for tires for about 3 weeks now. Here the GY GS-D3's costs the same as Firestone Wide Ovals. Give or take a few dollars. So there is no question which tires i'll be getting. The GY's may not last as long but will beat the Wide Ovals in everything else.
I just put the Goodyear D3 on 2 weeks ago and I have to tell you they are the goods. Traction and handeling is an unbelievable inprovement. I've had the B.F. Goodrich, Kumho, The new Goodyears smoke them all. Worth the extra $ that they might cost but again well worth it. G

Very I'm getting mine installed tomorrow. Cant wait!!!!!!!!
I got a nail in about the same place you described in my new GS-D3's about 2 years ago. I pulled it out, no leakedge. I have gone over 100 mph about 50 times and have had no problems. I might start worrying about 140 mph. IMHO, these are the best tires yet for a C4. Plus, they look cool as hell.
Sorry, its a 1990 vette conv. I have good year 275/40/zr17 now. I only drive it in the summer and no rain so I dont need an all weather tire. thanks again your input will help me make a chioce
Tire Rack currently has Sumitimo HTRZ's in your size for $88.00 each. Add $4 each for shipping and ~$10 each for your local tire merchant to mount and balance.
I checked the tire rack and was set to buy them , when the shipping date from maryland was 5-25-06. I just got the car together after a flywheel and clutch change and cant wait that long to smell burning tire smoke oh my poor new tires
The Kumho Ecsta MX's are amazing tires. I think they handle awesome and they take a beating. Running 20psi in them at the strips i was able to click off consistent mid 1.8 60ft's.
Its all based on personal preference. Like said Kumhos are cheap and last but they suck at performance wise IMO. I think BF goodrich are dependable, great traction in wet and dry conditons and last a long time. They are very well classed for the C4 and many newer models of other cars also but again its all based on preference. When it gets down to it you get three classes. The normal tire that we use, drag radials and the POS. Basically all you need is a street tire with what you want shop around a bit and youll find what your looking for. Goodluck
BTW using tire wet or another similar dressing helps tires last longer so id go for a two dollar bottle and 5 minutes of your time for a few hundred dollars in the next year or so
