old trick--forgotten?...the differential case is like an aluminum football sliced at the middle and bolted together with stuff inside running at close tolerances...under load the football distorts and the tolerances are destroyed... the case distortion can be substatially reduced by adding a flat plate at the front/rear cover parting line...''windows'' must be made in the plate to clear the ring gear and allow oil circulation (these windows should kept small to retain as much plate strength as possible)...compensate for overall length change of assembly by body mount and suspension bracket modifications or use a D36 cover with bolt holes drilled to match D44 case (D36 cover is thinner) to make it a ''bolt-in''
