Horn issue
Hello,
I just purchased a 1990 convertible. It is very clean and in stock condition.
I noticed that the horns were not working. They are both disconnected at the horn, when I plugged them in, they blew constantly.
The steering column does have a very small amount of up and down "play" in it--maybe 1/8".
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to begin to solve this problem??

Start with the electrical wires in the hood located near the front see if theres any shortages, cut wires ect. I doubt the play in your wheel causes this. If your a home mechanic and got a diagnostics available you can probably solve this quickly and cheaply. Id say if you wanna be lazy buy all new parts and spend the extra $$

I would bet the horn relay is fried.
or the horn wires inside the wheel are sick.
either way, you are a new owner, so order up a copy of the Helm Factory Service Manual, www.helminc.com. You might find a used copy at ebay or here in the parts for sale section.
