There is only one thing more important than going fast... STOPPING. Don't screw around with your brakes. I just finished doing new rotors, pads, master cylinder, and braided brake hoses. Make sure when you replace the parts, that you flush all of the old fluid out until you have clean fluid.
Seriously, the front brakes probably account for about 75% of your stopping power. If you mess around with that by letting the master cylinder go dry, you lose the brakes. Fix that immediately.
