yes. you have a leak. get under the car and isolate where it is coming from. my guess, the output shaft seal.

Cheap part, not difficult to change.

Don't panic yet. If it is an external seal, replacing it is the obvious answer. If it is over filled, it could be puking out of the vent at the top. If fluid level is correct and it is puking out the top, then worry.

The seal that usually erupts with no warning is often the front pump seal. Remove the 4 10mm bolts that hold the flexplate cover on and remove it. If it is fill with some fluid, it is likely a front seal. The 86 and earlier units had a problem with fluid pressure pushing out the front pump bushing. If this has happened(and I doubt it) There is a mod you can make to prevent it from happening again.

all good advice. just keep the fluid topped off between now and the fix. i have a great book that says a car never knows it has a leak--it only knows when it is low on fluid. if the leak is the only symptom, then you're probably lucky.

i just have to remark on the differences between your first and second post--frantic to calm. take a look.

we've all been there.

i hope you find an easy problem and at least have a laugh later.

I may be mistaken or did not understand this statement, pete never tells anyone on CF to rebuilt from him, he always sticks to his words to fix/rebuilt at ur local place and instead he gives free tech advices here, dont take me wrong pete. k is a wonderful man with good attitude and never expect to get anything from u. period.

This is true. I do not push myself on anyone on the forum. Always happy to help if I can. I make it a point to let everyone know that I am in the construction business by day. Trans is hobby. I get a sick kick out of being able to do the really difficult stuff.
Buying a trans off the internet can be a bad experience sometimes. Very expensive to r&r and ship back for repair. I always suggest a local pro if possible. Problems are dealt with much better.
The last 2 builds went to europe. 1 to stingraymarc in germany and the other to Nico. I am quite eager to hear how everything went for both. A bit nerve wracking though. It is hard to help someone on the other side of the planet if , god forbid, they have a problem.

Thanks Gene. I did the best I could do and the plane delivering them did not crash! Confidence and faith I have. Bad luck is what concerns me (in the back of my mind)
