Default Lt1 intake conversion 98% done: little problem

Just started my car up with my LT1 intake on it. It sounds great off idle but I am having some trouble getting a good idle. I played with the timing alot and adjusted the fuel pressure to just about every pound from 30-50 psi. It stumbles, pops and sounds like it has ahuge cam. The only thing I can think of is the injectors. I put 24# injectors in. I do not have a chip for it either. Should I put the stock 22# injectors in? Will it help or hurt?

Check your plug firing order. Very easy to mix up 5 and 7. My 86 did this when I had the 5 and 7 wires swapped. Just looked again and saw that yours is an LT1 not sure if firing order is the same.

Mine is the same firing order. It is an L98 with Lt1 intake on it. Just checked it...they are correct. Thanks though

Are you still using the stock hook ups for the distributor ?
Did you disconect the est.I would set the timing at 6 or 8 degrees and lower the fuel presure to 39 lbs that should decrease the width on the injectors .Did you install a new 02 sensor?
You need to run the engine long enough to get the engine into closed loop atleast 180 degrees.

you said it sounds great off idle--is that under load while driving or just in the driveway?.....if revving in the driveway sounds ok but idle and loaded causes popping, i've seen that several times--too ez to be true--just bad spark plugs....no idea why but sitting for a while unused they go bad

Could very well be an intake leak, probably somewhere around the back of the intake. You might try using a vacuum gage to see where you stand, then use some carb cleaner and spray around the edges of the intake to see if you have a leak.

You were correct about the intake leak I found it last night. It is in the back of the intake. Hopefully all I have to do is take the distributor out to get to it. I will post some pics as soon as I load the progam on the computer for the camera. Just got another camera. I drove it last night. HUGE difference!! well worth the headache of fabricating it. The power is nice and smooth and I honestly don't notice the torque loss. It pulls hard past 5k with ease. Much better than TPI

Its normal for LT1 intake cars to have a pop like they don't have enough accelerator pump until you get the car tuned..

Other than that it should run pretty ok.

I still have a few issues with it. It seems to be overheating and the throttle is very touchy. I also have low coolant light on and it is definitely full. The other issue is just minor tuning and like you said, a custom prom will take care of that.
