A while back there was a thread about a service bulletin that gave a part number for clips that hold the door panels on. My car is an '85 and the tops of the door panels won't stay secure on the top of the door. Anyone remember the part number?
Why waste money and effort on clips that will break again. Use a trim screw in each end of the door panel in the trim that hooks over the top of the door. This is a permanent fix.
I went to my local GM parts guy and was told these are discontinued (AGAIN!) However he did have one in his inventory. It is actually a piece of metal (not plastic) bent 90 deg with a hole to attach under the top of the panel. I'm going to make 3 more and see if they work. Thanks for the info guys.
I had the Bose amp repaired for my '88 and was testing the passenger door operation when I heard a "clink". This is a GM 10082828 RH part. Now to get it reinstalled - maybe the window will sound better in open and close testing. GM 10082828 RH door clip
There is also a broken stud assembly - looks like the plastic just sheared off. The picture approximates what I think would be the correct installation with the parts assembled - probably more clear than GM bulletin 87-116, Number 10.
