Somebody confirm Torque for front caliper mounting bracket
I am looking at the Haynes and it says the Ft-Lbs torque for the front caliper mounting bracket is 137 Ft-Lbs. of torque. I dnot know if it is a typo or not.
It is saying 85 and older torque spec is 70 ft-lbs I just want to confirm that the 85 and newer has almost twice that spec. Thanks
My '96 Helms says 166 ftlbs (HD brakes with 13 inch rotor, for standard fronts I don't know). I have changed the brakes a lot and that is what I use. If you are reusing the bolts, put some blue locktite on them. New factory bolts come with a thread locker on them already.
Cheers,
Lawrence

There are some variations in the torque specs for the caliper mounting bracket bolts. My 87 service manual call for 133 ft-lbs but for my 92 it was 165 ft-lbs +/- 15 ft-lbs. The rfear caliper mounting bracket bolts are torqued to 70 ft-lbs.
BTW, put no stock in the information in the Haynes manuals. Get the original GM Service manuals from Helms. www.helminc.com You get a brand new multi-book set with any updates and are the same ones that the GM service techs use at a dealership.
You can also find used copies from time to time in the C4 Parts For Sale section or on eBay.
