Default Update on ignition problem

Well ... see if this makes any sense. Two days ago I go out and try to crank the engine over. Nothing ...

Yesterday I decided to replace the oil temp sensor and change oil since I had some time. When i go to replace the sensor, the connector for it is on the same wire set as the O2 sensor. I go to reach for it and the 4wires for the O2 sensor just come right out of the connector. It turns out that the plastic latch on the end of it holding the pins in broke and is missing. So i found another one in some left over parts, get the sensor replace, and she starts right up now??!

That doesn't make sense. I don't believe that an unplugged O2 would be a no-start situation .. and like wise a bad connection to one wouldn't cause igntion to fail.. would it? The only thing i can think is that there is a ground common on there or something else that was shorting maybe? I'm not sure...

Here is the first post about the problem: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...61&forum_id=48

A bad connection to the O2 makes sense for "P0140 - 02 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 1 Sensor 2)" .. but none of the other problems i've had yet.

I'm not sure how to test it out without driving it around to see if it just dies again. I let it idle with the a/c on for about 10 minutes ... got to 175 degrees on the coolant and didn't skip a beat.

Doubtful that was related to your starting problems. But that's one of the two codes fixed.

Now that you know you have some wiring problems, first thing to do is check all the other connectors under the hood.

I can't predict what an OBDII car would do without a connected O2... more accurately, what would happen if the connectors are shorting out?

I guess I could always undo that connector and see if it gives problems...

Yeah, i will check around with all the other connectors to see what's going on. I'm a little hesitant to drive it down the block right now
though, ha.

The only other code that worries me is the 372 (high res). I'll stop by Autozone on the way home today again to see what codes it has now.

Any idea how i can get rid of that 140 for the AIR system? I took off my air pipes and detatched a vacuum line, which is why it's giving it. Maybe if i plug up that pipe? It doesn't have pressure or vacuum on it (the one that went to the drivers side air tube and also slipt off to the passenger side.

Default Opti!

Well, it's definitely the opti. I got her all working as seen here. She would sit here idling fine for 10 minutes multiple times. I get her started and decide to take her down the block... dies. 0 tach. I walked home and took the tahoe to Autozone to get the odbii scanner for the THIRD TIME in 2 weeks... and it's 372 again. High Res Failure from the opti. So that makes two times in a row of getting that code after the same type of failure.

UGH!
