Default Help me make more power...please

85 L98 bone stock with the exception of accel distributor and 1.6 rockers (not rollers or roller tips). engine has 117K on her.

what I am willing to do and can make budget for:

new heads with all new hardware
new intake
new cam shaft
headers
new exhaust with no worries about emissions
air induction mods

Ok...I hope the following makes sense (best way for me to describe what I want)....I want a fast street car that will go like hell, pull long and hard, sound good but not too dang loud, and still be ok for my wife to run to the grocery store once in a while. Can this be done?

Please....give me real specifics....what is a truly proven package for this kind of performance for an L98? Give me an idea of the kind of HP I can expect and quarter mile time.

Thanks in advance to all that can help me.

This is what i should have bought I too fell into buying all my parts individually it seems like a good idea but you will endup going way overbudget. another good way to achieve horsepower is with a supercharger but expect to be paying atleast $5,000 for a good one procharger is one of the best.

Is this what you originally had in mind if not you can buy all forged steel palrts but you might want to get the block milled so the parts will fit exact to the 100ths of an inch. Also while your at it i don't believe it will cost much more to have the engine bored to 383 because you might as well get as much Cubic inch out of your block if your going to go all out and buy forged steel a 383 kit will be ideal especially if you want to add Hp later on with a blower or turbo. The idea with getting the block milled is to have it blueprinted so you can send the exact measurements to the parts dealer. If your engine has over say 50,000 miles on it your block will have wear on it or if you or the previous owner drove it like a race car on high RPM. a good engine place i found is http://www.speedomotive.com/
this site is where i got all my forged steel parts from they will do your entire engine for you if you want even dyno it. but a very very important thing to remeber is your budget how much your willing to spend and go around that i spent $12,000 on my engine alone to give you and idea. but i bought a supercharger too (d1 intercooled procharger) you don't have to go all out like that but the more HP you add the more your spending everything on your car will need to handle the Horsepower/torque. from your transmission to driveshaft to rear end then your brakes will need to be upgraded your suspension so you can handle high speed and keep your car on the ground safety like a roll bar liek an S/T frame or a full rollcage 5 point or six point harness you might want to buy racing seats like i did etc. a full baer six caliper brake system alone can run you $4,000 so be prepared to $$$$spend$$$$ i had no idea what the hell i was getting into when i uped my HP remenber safety first go to summit racing.com and look up safety and buy everything you need they are good for safety and alot more they are your primary source for stuff like that or jegs.com http://www.bmrfabrication.com/F3-cha...tm#driveshafts
this is a site i might buy a rear end from not sure if it is the best or chaepest but look around and don't buy anything until your sure that is what you want anything over say 500Hp and you can't use a six speed unless it is specially designed like a base t56 six speed wont do i have a racing 700r4 from http://www.maddog-transmissions.com/
the godfather transmission can handle 700hp i am supposabely close to 750Hp but i wont know for sure until i get a dyno because i think the whole trip to get to the rear end sucked alot of Hp out i am still having the car worked on it has been along change over form stock to almost a supercar vette . i have a 85 vette buy the way i am looking forward to smoking new vettes with all the modifications and man i sure spent enough to say my car is faster than a new one. so far about $20,000-$25,000 i finished my kit on the car too greenwood racing hood staulker front bumper side skerts rear tunnel carbon fiber guages bfgoodwrech G-Force TA/drag radials with 18" rims so my brakes can fit you are gonna need to upgrade your rims too by the way if you buy 13" drilled slotted rotors (part # 611-128 from Mid America Motorworks is a good deal) you will need atleast 17" rims they say so your brakes will fit i bought my wheel tire package from (call toll free.............Customwheel.com - 1.888.266.5177) the wheel package was a great deal i only spent $2,000 for all four wheels and rims installed and balaced (http://customwheel.com/custom_wheels...roducts_id/791) before shipped out to you. And after everything is modified and changed your gonna need a custom comp chip (http://www.motorvation.tv/customchipform.htm) or ditch the TPI system and go carburated. your intake needs to be upgraded if you still want TPI and headers exhaust etc. Damb that was alot of typing and web site locating but it is worth it to help a fellow vette owner

To be an honest by the time u fix interior/exterior/wheels u already broke or dumped 3-4 grand, so its best sell this one and buy a a LT1 92-96 easy to modify with less money. ALso u need to change pretty much every thing in 85 TPI sucks whole intake upgrade to SR will itself about 1500 bucks easily plus cam plus heads plus tranny plus damn too many stuff, and at the end u end up with 375 Chp, by the time u reach 375 chp u already spent about 6- 8 grand thats too much and can never get that money back if u decide to sell it, So my advice sell this baby as it is and buy an LT1 easy to mod with less money and easy to get 400 chp+ less than 4000 bucks and still can be sell in pretty good price or just keep it, sami.
