Alright, I like my C4's too. I have owned 4 in the past 8 years. I like the styling and power. They turn heads everywhere you go and I get many . My dad owned 6 before I was born and I wanted a Z28 but my dad suggested I get a vette and now it's in my blood. Even though these are older now and things get broke, I'm interested in working on them. Sure they cost more money to repair than other cars, but I had rather work on a vette than any other car. I even like looking at them while there parked in the driveway.

To me the C4 is the only Vette left that has any personality. C5's are a dime a dozen and nearly all of them have the same BS appearance mods. How many Corsa exhausts and "exhaust dress up plates" can you see!
The certain C3's were absolutely beautiful in the appearance department, but weren't much on handling. The C4 was the first one that combined looks with speed, handling, and all modern creature comforts.
The C5/C6 look doesn't do anything for me. The interior is too roomy, too comfy. I can't stand the steering on a C5 and those brakes aren't exactly all they're cracked up to be either. I'm sure a Z06 would be different, but then just compare it to a ZR-1.
The C5/C6's are great cars, but not for me. The C4 was the last one that had the true sports car feel, they were still a little rough around the edges.

Possible, as I had owned 4 Vettes (1-'85 coupe, 3-'87s roadsters) before my son was born in 1989. And now he has the '88 coupe that we rebuilt for a total expense of <$1500.
Design-wise, the C4 is the ultimate Vette. It has a jet-inspired cockpit, exotic clamshell hood, the coolest set of hide-away headlights on any car, and a timeless exterior design. It also has the best seats offered in any Vette, didnt share interior components with other GM cars, and very useful side backup lights.
Unfortunately, the C5 and C6 had to make due with less design details to keep the price down. Just imagine if GM built a C4 with the engineering and technology available today. Hydroform aluminum frame, LS7 engine, rear transaxle, 'Ring developed suspension tuning, etc.

very well said, but apart from owning a C4 if u have a garage and some tools and some spare to care of problems when it arise, it sure problems will arise knowing its a old car and need more attention.

I don't recall ever owning any car that didn't need that! Too much ain't enough!
If someone wants to bash C4s while asking for help, they're pissin' in the wind. I ignore them.
Yeah, the dirty fuel filter caused me a lot of grief and even to the point of kicking the back bumper the day I was about to give up and leave it for dead. I thought it was something else but then again its an old car that needs to be upkept in maintenance and repairs. Especially the 18 year old fuel lines and hoses. The gas tank must be hella dirty. I still have a soft spot for my C4 since it was my first Vette ever.
What I tell all the kiddies that are drooling over a car they cannot possibly afford: the 350Z.
Dont waste a ridiculous amount of cash on a car that will get out performed in every category except comfort by a 20 year older $5000 85' Vette.
The C4 Vette is timeless and can compete against and beat just about every new car on the market for even twice the price.
In fact, the Nissan 350Z was the car I wanted to trade in for my 01 Civic, circa July 2004. But I also didn't want the dealer to give me $5000 for my trade in, which was worth twice that at the time. Then I'd have to owe them a total of 28 grand on top of that, paid off in 60 months. F*** that!! I found a better alternative. I display it proudly in my signature. I didn't have to owe anything after I traded up for it. It will gladly walk a $35,000 2005 350Z around town, the dragstrip and the Auto-X events and do circles around it. The best I've ever seen a stock 350Z do in Lakeland's 1/8th mile is 9.5 @ 79 mph. My old Vette is basically a 2001 Honda Civic with an L98 stuffed in it!
