Vortec head question
Guys,
I've installed vortec heads on my 79 about 1 year ago. Now I have a head gasket leak. Is there a special procedure to torque down the heads that is different than regular old 79 stock heads? Can you recommend a good head gasket? Any help would be appreciated.

check the scoggins dickey website. i believe i saw a torque chart in their catalog some time ago. or just do a web search.

yeah i never heard about them cracking either, i have a set on my 86. dont know the torque specks, i would check what parafrog is talking about. I think i have seen what he is talking about.

i've seen re-conditioned vortecs on ebay that were beefed up in the crack prone areas.
