Default Caliper Pin Won't Insert

The caliper pin on the right front of my '92 came up missing after a hard stop. I replaced the caliper bracket on that side and now can't get the pin to go through the channel. The backing plates for the pads block the path. Is there a trick to this?

I had the same problem - but only on one side of my J55 brakes...

I used a C-clamp to pull the caliper up to the bracket - just make sure nothing is binding and that the pads are in the right way, etc.... Then give it a nudge.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't have a large enough clamp but I'll try tomorrow.

I have had this hapeen often. Just as Ramenstud said, push the pads to gain clearance(I use a hammer and chisel on the backing plate) and nugde the pin in(I use brake grease on the pin and a hammer) and in she goes.
