Ok so today I pulled the heads off the 406 and the cylinders look perfect so I pulled the pan hoping to see something binding it up. Nothing here's the prob I can get the motor to turn completly around but it hits one spot that gets really tough like it rubbing somewhere. it does it in the exact same place everytime. Once it gets past that point it's fine. so does anyone have any ideas as to where it could be rubbing.

Is this a motor that your putting together on a stand, or one that you have been running?
Need more information....
If its one that you putting together on a stand, what are the clearances at? Mains? Rods?
Depending on what you are using for rods, you could easily have a rod (or rod bolt) to camshaft interference problem, and THAT can happen even with a stock cam. The cam isn't going to hit the crank.

That's why I said "crank assy"....I couldn't remember if it was the throws or the rods (which are part of a "crank assy")that were the problem. Thanks for clearing that up, CFI.

(I'm rapidly getting to that life's stage where I've forgotten more than I ever knew. )
turn the motor over (By HAND!) until you feel it start to bind. Then get out a flashlight and look for anything that's touching. I'm assuming the oil pan is off by now?
Hopefully it isn't the cam/rods touching, otherwise you've probably marred up a lobe...
