Default Any suggestions-scanner not connecting?

Well, the TunePro RT is on the laptop, connected to the USB port using the ALDU1+CABL1, plugged in the ALDL, switch on Craigs converter in the middle-then I get the message on the bottom of the program in red-not emulating, ALDL not connected? Either I missed them or there were no directions on what setting the switch on the converter should be in-up, down or middle, I thought Ray said middle.
Any suggestion?

Default cable trouble

Check the com port settings under device manager. I know whenever I connect my usb cell phone data cable/charger it always screws up the com settind on my USB ALDL data cable. I usually have to unplug the ALDL, restart the laptop, then plug it back in and it works.

Rick,
Now the real fun starts! Do you have the USB driver loaded? What COM is it emulating in Device Manager COM4/COM5 or something else? In TunerPro from the Tools pulldown last choice select Preferences, on the ALDL/Emulation tab, you need to select "MAX232/2-Trans/AP Pass" for Interface Type and then the Com Port your USB driver is emulating under Comm Port. The Target Sample Rate can stay at 10Hz. With this set, you then need to load an ads file. I mentioned this before.
Again from the Tools pulldown, select "ALDL/Data Logging" then select "Setup". From here you need to select the proper ALDL Datastream Definition file for your ECM. In your case you have a 1227165 ECM, start with a 160 baud definition. I believe there is one that came with TunerPro, 1227165-160baud.ads or 1227165_160.ads. For 160 baud the ALDU1 switch can be left in the middle position. Now select "Begin Monitoring" from the bottom of the ALDL Setup window and see if you can connect. Ignition ON of course, but engine doesn't need to be running! You can't connect to the ECM unless it it is powered up. If you do connect with engine off, you can verify data by watching the Throttle Position reading and pressing the gas pedal. Voltage should rise above the ~.54 with throttle closed. Let us know how you make out.

The RED "Not Emulating" is normal in your configuration and will always be that way with your hardware.

Sounds like ray knows more on your setup. I'm using TunerCat for my programming and TTS Datamaster for the logging so my setup may be different but it is working fine. The cable I am using is from Moates http://www.moates.net/product_info.p...products_id=49. But I actually bought it from PCMFORLESS for $80, box and all necessary cables. I never did figure out what the switch on the box was for. I did need to install the usb driver from Moates to get it to work. This is the driver I usedhttp://www.moates.net/product_info.p...products_id=66. It would not work without it. The com port I am using is 4. The setup and parameters I used in windows can be found at http://www.moates.net/documentation....entation_id=15.

Thanks Rick, sounds like we're basically using the same hardware, except it looks like you're running XP, is that right?
