I replaced the gears in the driver side motor of my headlight about 2 months ago. Since then the nut holding the headlight and motor together has fallen off twice causing them to not work again. Its getting quite annoying and it doesnt help that I lost the original nut. So does anyone know what the size of the original nut is and where I can find it? Anything special about it? Certain torque it needs to be at?
I nobody comes up with the answer I'd suggest taking the one off the other side to determine size, then buy a locking nut (nylon insert) for less than a dollar at any hardware / home supply store. Good luck.
Thanks swifty, I really dont want to pull the other one, but looks like I may have no other choice at this point. And i'm definitely getting some thread lock.
Try an M8 x 1.25 nut. It's what's listed in my Parts and Illustration Manual. I noticed when the stock nuts go on, they self lock. I probably have some in my stash.
