So im needing to get a new timing chain for my Hot Cam install coming hopefully next week. I have had people telling me to get the GM Heavy Duty chain which I was going to do....but I have to ask...what about the Cloyes Double Roller chain? Will there be a difference performance-wise between the two? Im looking for any hp I can. What do you guys think?
Im already switching to a Meziere, putting on Long tubes and adding a Hot cam. Just wondering if one chain will be better than the other or if it doesnt really matter.

If you are switching to the Meziere then the Cloyes is the way to go. I would recommened the cloyes 3145 from Summit. Good timing chain for a good deal. Its the one I run.
You will need some slightly slimmer cam retention plate bolts. Any speed shop will have some and they are about .50 cents.

Well the GM chain is made to work with the regular water pump. This also make it about $200+ bucks. The cloyes chain is a true double roller which costs about $70- bucks.
Probably not much of a performance benifit on either here. You'd just want these parts to be strong.
K...I just didnt want to lose anything from one over the other. And lets see $200 difference...yeahhhh double roller it is. I really appreciate it as always.

Good choice--go electric if you are changing the timing chain. The GM chain comes with a bad gear which hurts your motor if you happen to get a bad GM waterpump.
