As you guys probably know I have been fighting a rough idle. I have tried everything so I tried to check the wires, the fsm didnt tell me crap---I know the cfi guy will disagree but I found the answer in a chiltons book(going to wipe my butt with the fsm) all the wires ohmed at about 5 to 6 thousand except for #1 was 11 thousand which is still ok as far as the book says . Anyone have some numbers from there tests --and do mine sound normal?

My vettes idle has been rough also. It goes up and down and up and down, I have a manual trans and so far I think the plug wires at least 1 of them is bad. We were playing with them the other day just touching and putting pressure on them at the cap and the car darn near shut off then we let go and it went back up. Maybe this info helps.
5000 ohms per foot. 2 ft.=10,000 ohms, 1 1/2 foot=7500 ohms. these don't have to be exact, but there supposed to ohm close to that.If number 1 is 2 ft.-that's fine. You don't want to find any that read 0L
on a digital ohms meter. Like wise you don't want a 2 ft. long plug wire reading 5000 ohms.

Now im really confused about the ohms and when I look at changeing wires on the passenger side --well one more cocktail; drivers side is cake but when I changed plugs on the right side I had to take off the inner fender well and some polution crap to change the plugs so I guess a wire change will be an 8 drink event--one per wire
Your right jimmers ,just not as good as hearing from someone who has gone through what you are going through and can explain it step by step-that is really what most of the guys in here do-- to those guys!!
This is what makes the forum that much more interesting...A good old argument. I've washed my hands.
