Default bizzare coolant readings from 2 sources

I have a Heavily modified 85 corvette supercharged custom 4 core radiator and a gen 7 ecm. i have the fans come on at 180 and acording to the gen 7 that is the temp when the fans come on but the car factory gauge reads 210 whats the deal.
also i have the oposite problem that most of you have my temp drops in stopped traffic but goes up while driving even light cruzing not overheating but to 220. When i stop at alight for more than a couple of minutes it dropes to 190 that is on the factory gauge of course have not seen what the readings are fo the gen 7 yet. I find it strange that the temp rises as i drive normal. O2 numbers look good car is running al little rich on purpose so that in not the cause of the heat.

There are 2 temp sensors. One in the front of the manifold (the ECM uses this) and one in the cylinder head (the dashboard uses this one). it isn't unusual to see them disagreeing.

Well you know that GM gauges are notorious for being inaccurate. I would not trust it. I would get a second reading from directly from the ECM via ScanTool or use another aftermarket temp gauge.

I am running a gen 7 set up too. I have found that there is a pretty good variation between what I am seeing on the DFI screen vs. the guage. I would say your aux fan (does an 85 have one?) is coming on when your at a stop but it shouldn't come on until upwards of 220+* unless that sensor was replaced. Curious, what type of temp swings do you see in normal driving? I'm all on this one..bump!!

fans is on all the time so not a factor when stopped it goes to 180 from 220 while driving and real quick when im idleing not sure why how big of a difference are you seeing and which one is more accurate the gen7 or the guage.
